Cultural intelligence – Language courses in multicultural relations

Communication is culture and culture is communication

Edward T. Hall

The course explores the definition and concept of Cultural Intelligence, meaning the ability to relate and work effectively between different ethnic groups and cultures.
It is about approaching a new culture while at the same time preserving valuable elements of one’s own, of interpreting non-verbal communication and learning to use one’s body language to help manage economic relations in international contexts.
This notional-functional course is aimed primarily at assimilating language based on the student’s ability to communicate and understand. It uses practical processes and mechanisms for learning the target language and each participant is encouraged to listen directly in order to feel actively involved.
Without resorting to trivial “instructions for use” or pre-packaged recipes, the teaching of language and culture is integrated into a single programme, based on the simple idea that the same behaviour is not always understood in the same way by different cultures:

  • know how to behave with people from another culture based on their social norms;
  • understand the ideas of others starting with their culture;
  • speak and gesture correctly according to the rules of the other culture;
  • respect actions and find similarities between different cultures as an organised system of values relating to each other and the context.

The charisma and experience of our expert teachers fully satisfy the demands of companies to improve linguistic communication skills in an intercultural context.
